Check out the website the 8th graders have been learning about! www.gamestarmechanic.com
They are learning the basics and essentials of game design. They’re LOVING it! Not only are they creating digital games, they’re learning about what makes a good game, the importance of rules and goals, how to give quality, constructive feedback, and so much more. Here are a few games created by your fellow 8th graders! I hope they work!

Wow time flies when you’re super busy! I just got back from two days at the MACUL conference in Detroit. A conference dedicated to integrating technology in the classroom. WOW! Do I have LOTS to review and share with our staff and students. It’s always overwhelming, but oh so inspiring.
Here’s a little summary of what’s been going on around St. Paul.
* I WON! Thanks for all of the votes! I won the grant, and the kids have been using the FlipCam, and I’m itching to spend the $200 to buy glazes and clay for Empty Bowls.
* Regional Show: I took 10 pieces of student artwork to the Saginaw Art Museum for the Region 11 show.
Elementary: Haley W., Hailey I., Nathan D., Sterling F., Erin B.
Middle School: Morgaine A., Emily H. Kara B., Breanna M., Austin K.
They were on display for the month of February and judged. Sterling and Kara’s work was selected to go to Lansing to be judged at the state level. Kara’s was chosen as a Top 100 for Middle School, and Sterling’s was chosen as Top 15 for Elementary School! WOOHOO! Elementary, Middle Level State Exhibit and Top 15 Exhibit will be held June 5-17 2011. Top 15 Elementary and MS June 5-17 DISPLAY WILL BE IN THE ROTUNDA AREA OF THE STATE LIBRARY/MUSEUM

CONGRATS!!
* Frankenmuth Art at the Inn-We’ve been busy getting ready for the show at Bavarian Inn. It starts Monday March 21st and ends at 4:00 on Thursday the 24th. There is a reception Monday night at 7pm. Come and enjoy the hard work! We have about 100 students from our school who will be showcased.
* St. Paul’s 8th Annual Art Fair! Hawaiian Theme! Get out your leis, Hawaiian shirts, hula skirts and surf boards! The 5th graders are excited about putting together this fun event. It will be held in the Parish Hall on Tuesday, April 19th from 5:00-7:30.
*Upcoming Field Trips-All students in grades 1st-8th will be heading to the Flint Institute of Art in May. If you are interested in joining us and driving, please let me know! More details to follow.
